The Lefkada mountain villages drive is an inland loop of about 50-60 km that takes two to three hours by hire car. It climbs from the coast to Karya at 500 m, the highest inhabited village Englouvi at 730 m, the sunset balcony of Exanthia on the west ridge, and up toward Profitis Ilias at 1,015 m. The route is fully paved but narrow, with tight hairpins where a compact car is easier to handle than a large sedan. Along the way are traditional squares, the embroidery tradition of Karya, the PDO lentil fields above Englouvi, and long views over both coasts of the island.
